IHGISUG2009AGG1

(IHGISUG2009AGG1)
Uganda 2009 agricultural census linkage (IHGIS), level 1

IHGISUG2009AGG1 is a 3-digit alpha-numeric variable representing first-level geographic units.

Description

IHGISUG2009AGG1 is a geographic crosswalk variable that enables users to link DHS sample clusters to corresponding geography from agricultural census tabulations in the IHGIS database for Uganda 2009. This variable was created using GPS data associated with the specific DHS sample. See more information on how the variable was created on our user note on the IHGIS-DHS linkages.

The complementary variable IHGISUG2009AGG1P reports the probability that a DHS sample cluster was placed in the correct IHGIS census geographic unit in IPUMS IHGIS.

Users can attach aggregate agricultural census data from IHGIS to the units in IHGISUG2009AGG1 and attach those measures to IPUMS DHS individuals or households as contextual information for microdata analysis.

Comparability

A code of 0 means that the respective DHS cluster does not have associated location information. If this is the case, the corresponding probability variable will also be coded as 0.

Comparability - Standard DHS

IHGISUG2009AGG1 is a contextual variable using geography codes from the IPUMS IHGIS database and survey-specific GPS coordinates from the DHS Program.
