Description

ATCM4 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a religious health center as a source for testing for the AIDS virus. This response category is country-specific to Cameroon.

Some samples in the "AT" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ATCM4 is combined with ATCM3 (religious hospital/clinic) in ATPRIVMIS (all faith-based facilities) for the 2011 and 2018 Cameroon samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ATCM4 are encouraged to review ATPRIVMIS for a more comprehensive response category.

Comparability

In addition to universe differences, ATCM4 has differences in the wording and combinations between sample years that may affect comparability. Please see the country-specific comparability section for more information.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question about where one can get tested for the AIDS virus is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.

Though ATCM4 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules, it is combined with other responses in ATPRIVMIS, a standard variable that encompasses all faith-based facilities as potential sources for an AIDS test. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of ATCM4 or the Comparability tab of ATPRIVMIS for more information on the specific categories combined for the Cameroon samples.
