ATRTD1 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a public hospital or maternity home as a potential source of treatment for HIV/AIDS. This variable is country-specific to Chad.
Some samples in the "ATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
ATRTD1 (public hospital/maternity home) is combined with ATRTD2 (public military/garrison hospital) in ATRPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2004 Chad sample. IPUMS DHS users interested in using ATRTD1 are encouraged to review ATRPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
- Chad 2004: Women age 15-49 who have heard of HIV/AIDS and who know HIV/AIDS can be treated.
