Description

ATRTD2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a public military or garrison hospital as a potential source of treatment for HIV/AIDS. This variable is country-specific to Chad.

Some samples in the "ATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ATRTD2 (public military/garrison hospital) is combined with ATRTD1 (public hospital/maternity home) in ATRPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2004 Chad sample. IPUMS DHS users interested in using ATRTD2 are encouraged to review ATRPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.

Comparability

ATRTD2 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

ATRTD2 is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire.
