Description
ATTPREG (V606) reports the woman's attitude towards becoming pregnant. This question is asked of women who are at risk of becoming pregnant, but the definition of "at risk" varies across samples; see Comparability.

Comparability
The question wording for ATTPREG (V606) is largely standard across samples, and the woman's response is consistently coded as being happy, unhappy, or indifferent about getting pregnant in the coming weeks.
However, IPUMS-DHS users should note the universe differences across samples. In all cases, the universe included women who were at risk of pregnancy at the time of the interview. Most commonly, this included women who met four criteria: 1) not pregnant, 2) not infecund, 3) not sterilized, and 4) had had sexual intercourse. However, as noted below, the criteria for "at risk of pregnancy" varies slightly across samples, which may affect comparability.

ATTPREG (V606) is included in the standard DHS questionnaire for Phases I and III.
Comparability — Bolivia [top]
In the 1989 Bolivian survey, women who were at risk of pregnancy were defined as those who were not pregnant and who recently had sex. In the 1994 and 1998 Bolivian surveys, women who were at risk of pregnancy were defined as those who were not pregnant and not sterilized.

In the 1986 Colombian survey, women who were at risk of pregnancy were defined as those who were not pregnant and who recently had sex.
