Description

GEO_BR1991 (V101_BR1991) indicates the region of Brazil where the respondent was interviewed. DHS regions in the 1991 Brazil survey are equivalent to states. Only the states in the Northeast region were surveyed.

Other samples have their own sample-specific geography variables. There are other integrated variables that provide spatially consistent regions over time. These include geo_br1986_1996.
