HCFPUBMOB (V762BD) indicates whether the woman reported a public "mobile clinic" as a source for female condoms.
Some samples in the "HCF" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

Along with universe differences, HCFPUBMOB (V762BD) has some contextual factors regarding question wording that should be noted by researchers. This survey context broadly applies to the "source for female condom" series. For discussion of this topic, see the comparability section of HCFDK.
HCFPUBMOB has some variation in response category wording. The majority of samples used "mobile clinic" as the wording of the response category. Countries with different wording of the response are discussed below. The response category is consistently organized under the "Public Sector" or "Public Medical Sector" header in the survey.
For most samples, the variable was a part of a question that asked the respondent to list all known sources for female condoms. Some countries, discussed below, recorded only the first response, which may affect the comparability of those samples.
Comparability - Standard DHS
HCFPUBMOB (V762BD) first appears in phase IV of the Standard DHS. It is removed in phase VI and replaced with "country-specific public sector."
Comparability — Malawi [top]
For Malawi 2000, only the first response was recorded. Although the respondent may have known of a "public mobile clinic" as an additional source for female condoms, only her first response was documented.
Comparability — Namibia [top]
In the 2013 Namibia survey, under the "Public Sector" header, there are separate categories for "outreach point" and "mobile clinic." Because HCFPUBMOB focuses on all public mobile clinics, these responses are consolidated in this variable to create a more comprehensive response category.
