Description

For women who were randomly selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module and who had ever experienced physical or sexual violence from their husband/partner resulting in a relatively less serious injury, DVRINJURYNO (D110BN) reports the number of times the woman experienced such an injury in the past 12 months.

Comparability

There are differences in the wording of the preceding survey question, associated with DVRINJURY (D110B), that may limit the comparability of DVRINJURYNO (D110BN) across samples. Please note the country descriptions below for specific question wording.

Comparability - Standard DHS

DVRINJURYNO (D110BN) is not included in the standard DHS questionnaire for any phase, but it is included in phase IV of the standard domestic violence module.

Universe

  • Burkina Faso 2010: Women age 15-49 who were selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module, who have ever been married or lived with a man, who have ever experienced physical or sexual violence from their husband/partner, and had an injury, broken bone, or sprain as a result of violence.
  • Cameroon 2004: Women age 15-49 who were selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module, who have ever been married or lived with a man (except for widows), who have ever experienced physical or sexual violence from their husband/partner, and who had an injury or broken bone as a result of their husband's/partner's actions.
  • Cote d'Ivoire 2011: Women age 15-49 who were selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module, who have ever been married or lived with a man, who have ever experienced physical or sexual violence from their husband/partner, and had an injury, broken bone, or sprain as a result of violence.
  • Kenya 2003: Women age 15-49 who were selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module, who have ever been married or lived with a man (except for widows), who have ever experienced physical or sexual violence from their husband/partner, and who had an injury or broken bone as a result of their husband's/partner's actions.
  • Malawi 2004: Women age 15-49 who were selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module, who have ever been married or lived with a man (except for widows), who have ever experienced physical or sexual violence from their husband/partner, and who had an injury or broken bone as a result of their husband's/partner's actions.
  • Mali 2006: Women age 15-49 who were selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module, who are currently married or lived with a man, who have ever experienced physical or sexual violence from their husband/partner, and who had a wound, fracture, or sprain as a result of their husband's/partner's actions.
