Description

For women who gave birth in the last 5 years and who received antenatal care during their most recent pregnancy, ANCJO5_01 indicates whether they received care from the UNHCR (the United Nations Refugee Agency) or some other NGO. This response category is country-specific to Jordan.

Some samples in the "ANC" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ANCJO5_01 is combined with ANCJO4_01 (UNRWA health center) in ANCNGO_01 (all NGOs) for the 2017 Jordan survey. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ANCJO5_01 are encouraged to review ANCNGO_01 for a more comprehensive response category.

Comparability

ANCJO5_01 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question on where antenatal care was sought is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.

Although ANCJO5_01 is a country-specific response, this variable is combined with other responses in ANCNGO_01, a variable that encompasses all NGOs as sources of antenatal care.
