Description

HCMMG7 indicates whether the woman reported a friend as a source for male condoms. This response category is country-specific to Madagascar.

Some samples in the "HCM" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

HCMMG7 is combined with HCMMG8 (relatives) in HCMFRND (friends, relatives, and acquaintances) for the 1997 Madagascar sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using HCMMG7 are encouraged to review HCMFRND for a more comprehensive response category.
